The Upper:

• The x17+ Purespeed model featured a newly designed upper from the previous X 
• Adidas introduced the "NSG" Nonstop Grip element, which featured very soft and dipled like pattern throughout the upper for added grip
• The Techfit sock collar continued with a mid cut design that allowed for a locked in fit with the dynamic sock collar on this laceless design

The Sole Plate:

• Not much changed with the sole plate from the previous X model
• Adidas continued with a sprintframe soleplate, very similar to the Adizero line
• The sole plate features a chrome finish

Notes and Comments:

• In terms of shape and structure, the X17.1 is very similar to the 16 model
• The NSG tech was short lived but the upper on this model had a much better texture and grip than the previous X16 model
