The Upper:

• A major change from the previous model, the Vapor IX featured a gold ball like pattern throughout the upper
• The upper material was still a Teijin synthetic, similar to what was used on the last few models
• The golf ball like pattern was designed to help improve the grip of the ball, and still remained very lightweight

The Sole Plate:

• Nike continued from the previous model using only 2 studs in the back, a feature that was only used on the Vapor VIII and Vapor IX models
• The same glass fiber material and patten was used from the previous model as well
• The stud layout was nearly identical to the Vapor VIII, just a few cosmetic differences
• This is a Sample version that features a half carbon fiber plate, instead of the full glass fiber plate.  A spec that was never released

Notes and Comments:

• The golf ball like pattern gave for a very unique design, and was very comfortable on the Vapor IX
• The Vapor IX was known for their colorways darkening from the front to back, it gave a bit of a Vapor III vibe to it, but slightly different
• This Vapor IX Sample was slightly different than retail, using a carbon fiber sole plate instead of the full glass fiber design that was on the general release
