The Upper:
- Nike released the Vapor XI featuring a full Teijin synthetic upper and a newly designed ribbed pattern throughout the upper
- The upper used dozens of raised horizontal grooves that wrapped around the boot, providing added texture for better touch nad a more secure fit
- Nike continued with the "ACC" (All Conditions Control) coating that provided a consistent touch and feel in all weather conditions
- This is the signature Neymar JR edition, a custom colorway inspired by the 1998 R9 Mercurial design, using similar colors as the original
The Sole Plate:
- The Mercurial Vapor models are known for their ultra lightweight sole plates and cutting edge designs, with this being an exemplary design
- Nike used a one piece Nylon material that was very flexible and extremely durable, perhaps one of the most durable sole plates in the history of the Mercurial
- The new sole plate followed the foots anatomy, having parts of the sole plate raised to help with reducing pressure and strain
- The studs used a chevron design and the stud placement was strategically places to help with increased traction as well as helping with pressure of the sole
Notes and Comments:
- The Vapor XI has to be one of the best Mercurial Vapors of the past 10 years, with an upper that was uniquely design and a completely revamped sole plate
- This signature Neymar edition inspired by the 1998 R9 is one of the most iconic colorways of the series, incredibly rare and not often seen
- As the years have gone on, the Vapor XI has been scarce, it seems Nike only produced them for a short period of time and there was very little excess stock
