The Upper:
- A newly designed lightweight upper material called the "Vaporposite" was used, which was a thin coating that wrapped the boots, providing a textured upper for added texture and control
- Under the Vaporposite, the boots used a flyknit upper to provide a flexible and lightweight fit
- An upper that was proved to be a favorite amongst pros including bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Martin Odegaard, the perfect blend of speed and comfort
The Sole Plate:
- The Nike Air Zoom technology made a return on this generation of Mercurial, providing an additional level of spring and power when taking off
- This is the AG sole plate, that differed slightly from the FG. The AG used a few more studs than the traditional sole plate to provide better traction on turf and artificial surfaces. The studs are rounded and not as long to help with the traction.
Notes and Comments:
- Over the years there have been some incredible Mercurials, and some Mercurials that aren't anything special. The Vapor 15 elite model is one of the best Mercurials that seems super well thought out
- The upper was lightweight, flexible, comfortable, and had an amazing touch, what more could you ask for?
- The Air Zoom tech in the sole plate was a bit of a curve ball when these were released, but the sole plate itself is highly reactive and adaptive and provides an edge on all surfaces
